Obituary

Virginia Lorraine Scrivner, 94 years, passed away on December 3, 2012 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with her family by her side.

Virginia was born July 22, 1918 in Noel, MO in McDonald County to Robert Dee and Dora Malina Myoma (Pendergraft) Abercrombie.


Virginia was a resident of the Mansfield & Ava communities. On June 21, 1937 Virginia and Orval C. Scrivner were united in marriage in Reedley, CA and to this union six sons were born. She was retired from the Tobin Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield, MO. Other occupations that Virginia did were; picking cotton in Texas & Oklahoma, working the fruit harvest in California and restaurant owner & operator in Ava.



Virginia was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed and was a Charter member of the Bryant Flint Point Women's Extension Club for many years. She always enjoyed bluegrass and fiddle music and attended the weekly McClurg music gatherings and the Mansfield jamboree.Virginia had fun playing card games, especially pitch, hunting for mushrooms in the spring, cooking and gardening.


Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orval in 1983, three sons, Lee Roy, Larry Wayne and Norval James Scrivner, a grandson, Larry Wayne, Jr., step grandson, Stacy, one brother and five sisters.



Virginia is survived by three sons and their wives, Delbert & Kay Scrivner, Mansfield, MO, Jerry & Carolyn Scrivner, Tupelo, MS and Dee & Thelma Scrivner, St. Charles, MO, daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Scrivner, Springfield, MO, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Virginia will be Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor G. Richard Manley. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
