Virginia "Pinky" Lee Zirkle

Virginia Lee Zirkle, 91 years, 8 months, 21 days old, passed away on March 24, 2018 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO with her friends by her side.

Virginia was born July 3, 1926 in Clark County, Ohio to P.C. and Helen Ann (Oberly) Ingram.

Virginia was a retired Registered Nurse. She worked from 1947 to 1977 as an Industrial Nurse. For most of those years she worked with International Harvest Co. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1944 in Waverly, Ohio. She started her nursing career in 1947 at the Springfield City Hospital in Springfield, Ohio and retired in 1977 from LA County Medical. It was then that she and Benjamin moved to Douglas County to the Evans community.

On May 24, 1947 Virginia and Bejamin Zirkle were united in marriage in Madison County, Ohio. She was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Ava Chapter #47. Pinky, as everyone knew her, loved going to her church bible studies. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Ava Food Harvest for many years.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Benjamin in 1990,twin brothers, and two sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Marian Smith, Columbus, OH, two nephews, Lewis Lower, Columbus, OH and Marcus Lower, Virginia, one niece, Susan Bogardies, Boone, NC, a near sister, Delcia Heriford, Ava, MO, special friends, Randy & Leigh Heriford and Adam, Cody and Olivia Heriford, and Shannon and Leslie Weldon, as well as her church family and extended relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Virginia will be at Thursday, March 29th at 10:00 am in Ava Cemetery, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Jessica Foster. Pinky's request was that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Ava Food Harvest or Ava United Methodist Church. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
