Cecil Wayne Grigg, 64 years, passed to heaven on October 4, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO with his family by his side from a ten year battle with cancer.
Wayne was born July 1, 1948 in Corpus Christi, TX to Dewey Cecil and Francis Christine (Huff) Grigg. He graduated from Ava High School, Ava, MO.
Wayne was a resident of the Bradleyville community for many years. On April 24, 1973 Wayne and Donna Hurst were united in marriage in Harrison, AR.
Wayne was a Carpenter for Kraft Foods in Springfield, MO for 29 years. He was a Navy Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. Wayne was a member of the Church of Christ in Forsyth, MO.
Wayne loved playing football as a fullback for the Ava High School Bears. Some of his hobbies was woodworking, farm work and playing solitaire on his computer. He also loved his donkey, Daisy. Most of all Wayne loved being with all his family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother, Charles R. Fulton and a nephew Nathan Clark.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Donna Grigg, Bradleyville, MO, two daughters, Evelyn Cannon & husband, Pat, Ozark, MO and Rhonda Kaye Grigg & friend, Greg Smoot, Bradleyville, MO, two grandchildren, Tyler Gimlin and Amanda Gimlin, one brother & wife, Michael & June Grigg and one sister & husband, Suzanne & Allen Clark all of Ava, MO, mother and father-in-law, Ray & Bonnie Hurst,Bradleyville, MO, sister-in-law & husband, Becky & Terry Pitts, Ava, MO, special nephew, Brian Hurst, other nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Wayne will be Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Patterson Cemetery, Bradleyville, MO with full military honors by Ava American Legion #112. Visitation will be Friday, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Carl Herndon. Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic of Rochester, MN or American Cancer Society
