Wesley Owen Hampel

of Ava, Missouri

Wesley Owen Hampel, 59 years and 12 days old, went home to be with the Lord, September 6, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Wesley was born August 25, 1962 in Caro, Michigan to John and Janet (Proctor) Hampel.

Wesley was a Christian and was a member of the Gentry Church in Ava, Missouri.

Wesley graduated from Mayville High School in Mayville, Michigan in 1980.  He accomplished the rank of Eagle Scout, in the Boy Scouts of America.

On January 14, 1989, Wesley and Brenda Bazel were united in marriage at Christ Community Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico. They were married 32 and a half years.

Wesley enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending time with his wife, family and grandchildren. He loved making pies and giving them away for birthdays or just because. He loved life and made the most of each day.

He was a loving, caring man who lived a spirit filled life as an example for others. He had a pure heart and loved the Lord more than anything else.

Wesley is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Curt and Helen Hampel, and maternal grandparents Marlin and Florence Proctor.  Gone before relatives include a sister, Julie, Uncle Tyrus and Mary Hampel, Glenn and Pearl Hampel, David Hampel, Curt Hampel, Welcome & Norma Proctor, George and Phillis Proctor, Guy and Betty Proctor, Erwin Proctor, Flett and Sharon Proctor, and father-in-law, True "Bob" Bazel.

Wesley is survived by his parents, John and Janet Hampel, his wife, Brenda, and their children, Krystina Wurtsmith, Brent and Terri Hampel, Katie and  Abdul Gondal, and Benjamin and Kassidy Hampel. They have eleven grandchildren, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Micky, Joe, Audra, Kylie, Preston, Athena, Kaiden, Tucker and Elias.  He is also survived by three siblings, Scott and Holly Hampel, Brian and Rene Hampel, and Christina and Ryan Dewyse, his uncle Harold Hampel, mother-in-law, Marilyn Bazel and a host of cousins.

A memorial service for Wesley will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Gentry Church in Ava, Missouri.  Officiating will be Pastor Bill Comer and Pastor Bob Huskey.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Gideons or to St. Jude.
