Cowart
March 15, 1929 – November 30, 2020
Wilber J Cowart, 91, of Gainesville, Missouri, passed away on November 30, 2020 at the Gainesville Health Care Center. A private family service will be held at a later date.
He was born March 15, 1929 at Possum Walk, the son of Perry and Ruby Cowart. He graduated from Gainesville High School and served in the army in Germany. After his time in the service, he worked at Guffey Chevrolet as a car salesman until his retirement.
On June 19, 1955, he married Barbara Turner.
He loved his family, turkey hunting, fishing, and hunting for morels. He spent many priceless moments passing down his love of nature and his love of these Ozark hills and hollers to his daughter and granddaughters. He never missed a basketball game or softball game when his granddaughters played. He loved the Cardinals and would listen to the games on the radio before they were televised. He never met a stranger and was a good story teller reliving his childhood tales. He delivered meals on wheels to folks all over Ozark county. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara, and one daughter, Mitzi Frye, and husband Cameron of Gainesville. Three granddaughters, Ashley Hallmark of Pickens, South Carolina, Hannah Palmer and husband Josh of Thomasville, Missouri, Brittany Frye of West Plains, Missouri. Two great grandsons, Logan and Hagan Palmer. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Perry Cowart and brother Walter Cowart.
Arrangements by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
