WILLIAM "BILL" E. HUGHES
William "Bill" E. Hughes went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2008. He was 66 years old. Bill was born in Granite City, Illinois on September 21, 1941 the son of Lyman A. and Dorothy A. (Duffy) Hughes. On July 8, 1989 he and Wynona Flaugher were married in Eldon, Missouri, and as best friends they had a wonderful 18 years and 8 months together.
Bill was a graduate of GCHS, class of 1959 and in 1963 he served in the US Army and ARNG. He was an electrician for many years and also worked for the family business, Tri City Radio & Appliances. In 1979 he purchased the family business and continued operating it until his retirement in 2003. He then came down to the Ozarks to start building their retirement home.
Bill enjoyed ham radio, occasional hunting and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed sitting outside on his deck watching the wildlife and the change of seasons.
He is survived by his wife Wynona of the home and was a wonderful dad to Marchele Curtis of Ozark, Missouri, Charlotte Reese of Great Falls, Montana, Ronald Dawson of Pontiac, Missouri, and Dave Dawson of Granite City, Illinois; three grandchildren Anthony Nelson of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Taylor Reese of Great Falls, Montana, and Nicole Kopchak of Ozark, Missouri; and his golden retriever "Sammy".
Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his parents, one brother George "Sonny" Hughes and one sister Lorraine "Pid" Hughes.
Graveside services for William Hughes will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Mammoth Cemetery with Gale Wooten officiating. Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, directors.
