William Robert Richards, 90 years, went to paradise to be with Jesus Christ our Lord on December 8, 2009 at St.John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO.

Robert was born September 29, 1919 in Pike County, IN to Joseph and LeeEtta (Luttrull) Richards.

Robert and Alma Edna Lytle were united in marriage in Evansville, IN. Robert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, where he was ordained a Deacon.

Robert was a resident of Ava for the past 17 years, moving here from Davenport, IA, where he retired from the Rock Island Arsenal. He served in the US Army for 5 years and was a WWII Battle of the Bulge veteran. Robert enjoyed flying, cars, hunting and clocks. He was devoted to his wife and family and loved spending time sharing life's experiences with friends. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl & Delbert Richards and two sister, Mary Peterson and Regina Hacker.

Robert is survived by his wife, Alma Edna Richards, Ava, MO, a son Jake Richards and wife, Dottie of Davenport, IA, a daughter, Debra Walker and husband Rex, Ava, MO, grandson JR Richards and wife Charla of Calhoun, GA, granddaughter, Traci Platt and husband, Jeff of Davenport, IA, granddaughter, Angela Walker of Ava, MO and three great granddchildren, Carley and Blair Richards of Calhoun, GA and Camryn Platt of Davenport, IA, three sisters, Medrith Messinger of Montpelier, IA, Laveda Cargal of Worthington, IN and Lanorda Myers of Owensville, IN and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Robert will be Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by Ava American Legion #112 and VFW #5993. Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Elder Ike Rhoades and Priest Rex Walker.
