WILMA STRONG
Wilma Strong, 92, of West Plains, MO passed to heaven on November 10, 2011 at the Brooke Haven Healthcare Center, West Plains, MO. She was born on August 28, 1919 in rural Ozark County, MO the daughter of William Thomas and Lucy Viola (Owens) Birdsong.
On October 13, 1939 Wilma was united in marriage to Roscoe Strong. She was a long time resident of Ozark County, until she and Roscoe moved to West Plains, MO in the mid 1990's. Roscoe preceded her in death on October 13, 1997. Although they were unable to have children of their own, Wilma loved kids. She loved playing music and singing. Wilma also loved gardening. She planted beautiful flowers and was always proud of her roses. Wilma was a Christian and member of the Central Church of Christ in West Plains, MO, prior to moving to West Plains, she was a member of the Gainesville Church of Christ.
Mrs. Strong was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roscoe Strong; and three brothers Troy, Jim and Clem Birdsong. She is survived by one sister Burnett Sharp Anderson of West Plains, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, MO with Pat Casey officiating. Interment will be in the Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, November 13th from 3 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Patrick Cemetery.
