Wilma Fern Upton

Wilma Fern Upton, 85, of Springfield, Mo. passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021.  She was born on June 25, 1936 to Ted and Daisy (Mahan) Upton at Locust, Mo.

She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Gainesville, Mo. High School, earned a bachelor degree at SMS in Springfield, Mo. and a master's degree from Warrensburg State College.  She was a high school English teacher and a librarian in Independence, Mo. and a librarian in Gainesville, Mo. High School.

She loved country music. Her favorite was Mother Maybelle and the Carter Family,

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Reba Ramsey and brother, Paul Upton. She is survived by nieces, Linda (Bob) Lamphear, Kim Ledbetter, Alex Ledbetter and nephews Jay Lamphear and Craig Lamphear.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2021 at Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. The family requests donations be made to Lutie Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
