Zola Faye Harrison

Zola Faye Harrison, 88 years, 11 months, and 9 days old, passed to heaven on May 20, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.

Zola was born June 11, 1922 in Douglas County, MO to Frank and Lydia "Birdie" (Robertson) Thurman.

On August 20, 1942, Zola and Elmer Thomas "Tommy" Harrison were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union five children were born.

Zola was a resident of Everton for five years moving from Kansas City, MO. Zola grew up in Douglas County, MO where she lived in the Girdner and Whites Creek communities. She was a Christian and attended the Sweden and Girdner Churches.
Zola enjoyed flowers, quilting and traveling locally. She loved listening to gospel music and being with her family.

Zola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, "Tommy", one brother, Alva Thurman, a sister, Naomi Twitty, a granddaughter, Becky Nichols and a great grandson, Michael James McIntire.

Zola is survived by five children, Helen Almon, Everton, MO, Shilah McIntire & Stephen Dewald, Gladstone, MO, Clifton Harrison, Everton, MO, Clifford & Gwen Harrison, Seymour, MO and Twyla Creason, Kansas City, MO, 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren,two sisters, Neva Vinson and Norva Strong both of Ava, MO, a sister-in-law, Frieda Thurman, Ava, MO,many nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends, and a special pen pal of many years, Doug Bethel, whose letters she looked forward to and enjoyed every week!

Funeral services for Zola will be Friday, May 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Girdner Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Johnson and Rev. Marvin Loftin. Memorials may be made to Girdner Cemetery or Seasons Hospice, 1831 W. Melville, Springfield, MO 65803.
